What’s Happening in San Antonio’s Real Estate Market

Wondering what’s happening in the San Antonio real estate market? Here are the stats:

  • 2400 homes sold in San Antonio in October.  That’s UP over 8% from last year at this time.
  • The average price of homes sold in the area was $240,919, with a price per square foot of $111, UP 5% from last October.
  • Houses spent an average of 57 days on the market, and inventory remained low with just 3.5 months available.
  • Homes priced under $200,000  made up 49% of the market’s sales, while homes priced between $200,000 and $500,000 accounted for 46% of the month’s sales.  Homes priced over $500,000 made up the remaining 5% of sales.  All consistent with previous months.

So what does this mean for those looking to make a move now? According to SABOR President and CEO Angela Shields, this is the perfect time to be buying or selling a home in San Antonio. “For buyers, there tends to be less competition in the off-season and they can see how the home functions in the colder weather. For sellers, homes are selling for 97.5 percent of list price.”
